Active Whey & Collagen is clinically proven to deliver 61% more muscle growth than Whey on its own!
The randomised, double-blind control trial, published in the Journal Acta Physiologica, is the first to use state-of-the-art high-resolution magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to ascertain that bioactive collagen peptides can significantly increase muscle size.
Here, researchers also employed ultrasound to detect changes in muscle architecture. These ultrasound images revealed a significant improvement in the angle of the muscle fibres, indicating a positive, systematic effect of the collagen peptide supplements on muscle remodelling after resistance training.
“Over time, greater hypertrophy would be expected to benefit improvements in function”, wrote the authors about the strength gains in light of the significant increase in quadriceps muscle volume and contractile torque found after the collagen peptide supplementation.
What Is Active Whey & Collagen?

Collagen accounts for an estimated 30 percent of the body’s overall protein mass. The amino acid chains in collagen are hugely valuable for the body in many ways. First and foremost, they provide essential building blocks and nutrients for your muscles, and connective tissues such as ligaments, tendons, bones, joints, skin, and blood vessels.
Active Whey & Collagen gives you the most advanced formulation to optimise your training nutrition... train harder & recover faster!
What Is Whey?
Whey has been used by athletes for decades as a high source of protein, for muscle building, and overall recovery. It’s the tried and tested protein supplement in the fitness industry, while collagen is like the new kid on the block.
Whey is one of the two main proteins found in milk (the other being casein). When cheese is made, milk fat coagulates and leaves behind whey. Similarly, when you open a tub of yogurt, the watery film at the top is whey.
This watery liquid is filtered to remove fats and lactose, leaving only whey concentrate behind. This liquid whey is then spray-dried with hot and cold air until it becomes a powder.
While whey seems to stimulate higher rates of protein synthesis, potentially due to whey’s high concentration of leucine... collagen strengthens the extracellular matrix of the muscle cells, allowing for more load to be distributed with more force.
Studies have found collagen to improve body composition by increasing fat-free mass, decreasing fat mass, and increasing muscle strength. So if you are looking to gain lean muscle and reduce your fat mass... Active Whey & Collagen is the best of both worlds!
What Is Collagen?
Collagen accounts for an estimated 30 percent of the body’s overall protein mass.
From the age of about 20-25, your body's collagen production naturally declines. Additionally, collagen becomes fragmented and more loosely distributed. Taking a collagen supplement is especially helpful for maintaining muscle tissue and bone as you get older.
Collagen's primary use for the past few decades has been in the beauty industry, improving skin, hair & nails. However, there is very strong scientific evidence to prove that collagen plays a crucial role in the health & strength of our connective tissues, ligaments & tendons, as well as our muscles.
U Perform has developed specific Bioactive Collagen Peptides® to support your active body
What does the science say?
The study confirmed the findings from three published studies performed by Universities in Germany. “Our current muscle hypertrophy results are consistent with prior studies that reported greater gains in fat-free mass for collagen peptides vs whey, vs placebo during resistance training,” revealed the authors. The pioneering German studies also yielded improvements in body composition from the supplementation with Bioactive Collagen Peptides®
Leser concludes: “Seeing is believing. With this high-resolution imaging study, we determined that supplementing with bioactive collagen peptides can significantly increase muscle volume. This study contributes promising evidence towards taking into account the impact of bioactive factors on health outcomes when evaluating dietary protein quality.”
